National Merit Scholarships awarded to PEEKE Internship students

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Several Northeast Ohio high school students were awarded National Merit Scholarships on Tuesday.

The winning students were judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies. Each receives a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corp.

A committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors considered several factors for scholarship winners, including their academic record, difficulty level of subjects studied, grades, scores from the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, contributions and leadership in school, and community activities.

Finalists also submitted and received a recommendation written by an official from their high school.
