Summer Jobs Scavenger Hunt Winner: Adria
Meet Adria (she/he/they), the 2022 winner of the social media scavenger hunt. Adria worked as a page this summer at Addison Library.
Adria collected the books, organized them, and returned them to the shelves along with DVDs, CDs, or other library materials. “Some of the skills I use for this job is organization and memorization. I write stuff down, make sure everything goes where it belongs, and it's nice and tidy. I also need patience to sift through the materials and constantly check to get it back to where it’s supposed to go.”
Adria has been working with their job coach to try to get a job at Starbucks after the summer library job ends. Adria sees this as a stepping stone to becoming a bartender once they’re of age. Making drinks and concoctions is very interesting to them. After high school Adria wants to go to college for music, songwriting, voice, and composition. They like to write songs, sing, and dance.
Adria advices future summer jobs participants not to give up. “Trust me; I know it gets hard. Do your best, take breaks, and take care of yourself because if you overexert yourself, you won't get anywhere. I know it can be hard, but you got this!”
