Since 1982, Y.O.U. has employed more than 160,000 14-18-year-old students in the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), which provides subsidized employment for youth during the summer. Our employee retention rate is 89%.

Why be a SYEP employer?

  • 6 weeks of seasonal, entry-level work

  • Teach work ethics and financial independence

  • Opportunity to help young people in the community through mentoring and work experience

  • Ability to hire workers permanently after the summer experience

  • Community partner recognition

I have been an active community partner with Y.O.U.’s summer employment program for the past 10 years. It is the only youth program that imparts productive workplace skills, builds teamwork, requires effective time management, and instills positive self-esteem all while providing youth with a degree of financial responsibility. The Y.O.U. summer jobs program collaboration exemplifies the best of youth development endeavors in Cuyahoga County.
