Are you ready for some friendly competition? What about the chance to see academic success and dedication pay off in the form of awards and notoriety? After an academic year filled with hard work and hours of preparation, Y.O.U.’s students are ready to show off their knowledge and skills at the annual Youth Career Olympics (YCO). The YCO will be an exciting day filled with competition, networking, and fun. We’re still looking for corporate sponsors. Your organization could forge links to the students who will, one day, make up your workforce. Students square off in employability skills tests and tasks, and when all the points are tallied, a winner is announced.

Students take part in the following competitions: Corporate Team Challenge, Public Speaking, Community Service Displays, Employability Skills Testing, Employment Interview, Employment Application Review, Budgeting for Life, Visual Display, Decision Making, and Program Cover Design.

Roughly 150 students from high schools in Cleveland, East Cleveland, Maple Heights, Painesville and Euclid will compete.

The Youth Career Olympics also features an Opportunity Fair, at which employers, educators, and the military will meet and network with the students who participate in the event. Students can acquire valuable insight into a career, gain employment, and learn about educational opportunities. The Opportunity Fair also provides businesses and organizations  the chance to meet with their future workforce.

The YCO is a means of reaching out to the business community to forge a link between companies and the needs of our young people. The Youth Career Olympics encourages personal interaction between the youth and the adult role models.

Youth Career Olympics is the culmination of a year’s worth of learning employability skills for our area students. These skills translate to a successful school career, which is demonstrated by the graduation rate (89%) of our Y.O.U participants. When Y.O.U. students finish their secondary education, they are better able to engage in the workforce or pursue higher education productively. They are assets to the community and any future employer.

Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this inspirational day! Download the PDF and see how you and your business or organization can get involved.
