E CITY is a program Y.O.U. offers in eight Northeast Ohio high schools. The class title, an acronym, stands for Entrepreneurship: Connecting, Inspiring and Teaching Youth. E CITY students learn what it means to think like a business owner. They develop business plans and each receive $50 in seed money to develop an idea.

In 2014, Jailynn McGill was a sophomore at Horizon Science Academy and a participant in Y.O.U.’s E CITY program. There, she created her first spa product and, consequently, her first business plan.

A year later, the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) recognized her at a gala in New York City for her efforts to expand her small business from one product to a line of spa products.

Today, Jailynn, now a Cleveland State student, helps run ALisaDaniella, a spa, located at 29339 Euclid Ave., Suite 301, in Wickliffe, with her mom and sister. She credits E CITY with helping her get her entrepreneurial start. We’re so proud of her for following her passion.
