Although the school year is in full swing, we would like to take a moment to look back on our summer employment successes!
191 employers and 532 worksites offered summer jobs
A huge thanks to passionate employers like Collinwood Recreation Center who invest in our youth and their futures!
2,577 teens and young adults, ages 14-24, were employed
Cashalynn Bolden-Johnson worked at Burten, Bell, Carr Development, Inc. this summer. In the future, she plans to study medicine and become a doctor. At the end of her employment, her program coordinator commented that “based upon her professional deameanor, natural ‘can-do’ attitude, and ability to accomplish tasks with little supervision, there’s no doubt that we will be seeing Cashalynn on the campus of Cleveland Clinic or University Hospital one day.”
110 teens and young adults hired permanently after the summer ended
Delmontia Pinkney worked as a custodian this summer at CMSD. He was offered full-time employment after a recommendation by his supervisor thanks to “previous work experience with the youth employment program and the leadership he’s shown while working this summer.”
A special thanks to…
The generosity of the foundations and corporations that supported our summer programs , including Bank of America, Cleveland Clinic, The Cleveland Foundation, The Nord Family Foundation, JPMorgan Chase, and Third Federal Savings & Loan.
Our banking partners, First National Bank and Ohio Savings Bank, who provided financial literacy, education, and helped participants open bank accounts.
Young America Saves for encouraging and aiding 1,413 teens and young adults to make online savings pledges, totalling $2,089,533.
